The Epic Fail Coffee Selfie

Hi everyone!
I'm halfway through a short prequel that'll introduce you to the main characters in the first Biogenesis War book, and hope to be able to get it to you very soon.

The beta readers are LOVING book 1 in the series, and have some really great things to say about it, which makes me stress out about finishing book 2 (I'm writing as fast as I can — well, except for the occasional, wacky selfie....).

About the selfie...

A good friend of mine is a foodie. I mean, a huuuuge foodie. And she LOVES her coffee.

She also happens to be the person behind the character of Shannon in the Enfield Genesis book series.
And let me tell you, the real Shannon is every bit as colorful, creative, energetic, and fun as the AI in the books—the one who goes on to run the Q-ship, the Avon Vale.

So when Shannon (the human, not the AI) ordered all her friends to post a morning coffee selfie, all of Shannon's friends (of the human, not the AI) ran and grabbed their camera phones.

But what did I do?
Well, every good author knows they can't post a selfie without including their muse, am I right?
Looks like someone didn't get the memo. (Hey Maxwell, the camera's thataway, dood!)

I'm sure Shannon (the AI, not the human) would've done better.

Interested in exploring other stars?

The Enfield Genesis series visits the binary star systems of Alpha Centauri and Sirius, as well as Tau Ceti, Epsilon Eridani, and the red dwarf of Proxima.

Each of these star systems has been the subject of decades-long study, and there’s a wealth of scientific observation available on them. That data has been woven into each book, as an integral part of the story arc.

The entire series is free in KU, or you can purchase the first book,
Alpha Centauri for 99¢ by clicking this link.

The view as I write

Just a little peek inside my writing studio (and what I'm working on, too!). Proxima Centauri will be out in a few weeks. It releases on August 16th, and you can pre-order it on Amazon today ! Behind my monitor, you see three shots I took of the solar eclipse from August, 2017. Closeups of those three shots -- sunspots, solar prominences and then the diamond ring effect -- are below. And here's the camera that took those gorgeous photos: my trusty Nikon D750. Love that thing! On that day, I used a 200mm prime with a 2x teleconverter. And, of course, the solar filter to keep from frying one of my favorite toys. We flew out to a few airports along the way to scout the perfect location. Yes, that actually is  a roll of paper towels behind my head. And if I look hot—well, I was. It was in the high 90s that day. The view on our way back was spectacular. Loved the reflection of the sun and clouds in the winding river below. Happy reading, and ...

ANNOUNCEMENT: New Project, New Series!

Hi all, it's been a while since I've updated here, and that's because I've been working on world-building for an entirely new universe. Coming sometime this year, I'm launching the Biogenesis War™series, published through Wooden Pen Press. I have a new Facebook  page for my non-Aeon 14 books. I'd love for you to come by and visit! You can like my author page, LL Richman  to be updated on all the latest news (or click on the image below to be taken there). Or, you can join my mailing list by clicking here . What's she working on now? Well, to be honest, good world-building, based on solid science (and math! Yes, MATH!) takes time. You also have to consider the governments involved, the cultures, the geographic locations, the religious beliefs, the economic tensions.... All the things. It usually takes me three months to write a book, from concept to publication. However, that's with an established universe handed to me, all nicely ...

Do you have your boarding pass to Mars yet?

NASA's offering boarding passes to Mars. Are you ready to sign up? July, 2020 marks the launch of the next Mars Rover mission. This mission will address high-priority science goals for Mars exploration, and will hopefully answer key questions about the potential for life on Mars. The mission will both seek signs of habitable conditions on Mars in the ancient past, as well as search for signs of past microbial life. More than 5 million people have submitted their names to be included in the next Rover mission. If you're interested in adding yours to the list, go to NASA's landing site to submit your information for review . You'll get the opportunity to download your very own boarding pass, as well as begin to rack up some serious Frequent Flyer points. You can also learn more about the goals of the mission, and read the mission overview in some of the links at the top of NASA's page. Kudos to the space agency's marketing team for a truly enga...
